Land Trust Seeks Accreditation

In order to ensure that its efforts meet national standards for land conservation and stewardship, the Land Trust for the Mississippi Coastal Plain is requesting accreditation from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the national Land Trust Alliance. If successful, the Land Trust will be the first organization in Mississippi to achieve this distinction.

As part of this review process, the Land Trust Accreditation Commission will conduct an extensive review of the Land Trust for the Mississippi Coastal Plain’s policies and procedures. The Land Trust Accreditation Commission invites public input and will accept signed, written comments related to the Land Trust for the Mississippi Coastal Plain’s application for accreditation. Comments must relate to how the Land Trust for the Mississippi Coastal Plain complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For a full list of standards, please visit www.landtrustaccreditation.org/getting-accredited/2008-indicator-practices.

All comments regarding the Land Trust for the Mississippi Coastal Plain’s application for accreditation should be submitted by September 15, 2008 to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. To learn more about the accreditation program and to submit a comment, please visit www.landtrustaccreditation.org. Comments may also be mailed or faxed to:
