George Whitney, donated the property to retain the scenic view for future generations. The property, located on Bayou Leterre, was previously owned by International Paper Company and best management practices were in place so that approximately 200 feet along the water’s edge has not been harvested. The remaining acreage was cut approximately ten years ago. The property has a wetland area with a non-tidal flowing freshwater stream, a wet pine savannah, bayhead swamp, gum pond, and is wooded with bottom-land hardwoods.
